Alkhidmat conducts skin diseases medical camp in Central Jail; 3,000 prisoners benefit
Alkhidmat Karachi recently conducted a free medical camp for skin diseases among prisoners in Karachi Central Jail. More than 3.000 prisoners benefitted from this camp which was organized by Alkhidmat’s Health department. Senior officials from Alkhidmat attended the camp including Executive Director Rashid Qureishi and Senior Manager Coordination Manzar Alam as well as DIG Jails Muhammad Hasan Suhto and SSP Central Jail Abdul Karim, who surveyed the entire operation. The examination was done by a team of specialist doctors aided by a large number of paramedical staff who prescribed and provided free medicine to inmates suffering from skin diseases. Besides, prisoners were also advised precautionary measures to protect themselves from such diseases. Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Rashid Qureishi said that purpose of the camp was to detect and diagnose skin diseases prevalent among the prisoners and to spread awareness about them, so that prisoners were not left out from enjoying the benefits of good health. He reminded the audience of Alkhidmat’s efforts to provide clean water, health and education in prisons, including the running of a computer center in the jail. DIG Jails Muhammad Hasan Suhto thanked Alkhidmat for its efforts and expressed his hope that Alkhidmat would continue to provide these services in the future too.
