Alkhidmat inaugurates RO Filtration plant in Arkanabad, Korangi

Alkhidmat Karachi’s WASH department has installed a new RO Filtration plant at Arkanabad, a locality of Burmese immigrants in Korangi. The new installation, which was done under the auspices of the Alkhidmat Foundation Women’s Wing Trust, brings the total number of RO plants in Karachi to 55. The inauguration was done by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District Korangi and Chairman Landhi Town, Abdul Jameel Khan in the presence of Director Clean Water Alkhidmat Karachi Gauhar Islam, Manager WASH Saad Akbar and other senior officials along with large numbers of local residents. Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jameel Khan said that scarcity of clean water was a major problem in Karachi and people were not getting clean drinking water easily. Contaminated water that was being supplied through pipes and tankers was a health hazard that resulted in the proliferation of water-borne diseases. Therefore, Alkhidmat was trying to provide clean drinking water wherever possible by installing Water Filtration plants in the city that were providing quality drinking water to thousands of citizens on a daily basis. Besides, Alkhidmat was also working to make people aware of the dangers of impure water. On his part, Gauhar Islam said that Alkhidmat was serving the people in many ways, but providing clean water was one of the most important ones. He expressed his hope that residents of Model Colony would benefit from the new plant and expressed his desire to establish water filtration plants in every area of Karachi. He appealed to those with means to come forward and support Alkhidmat in this effort. Lastly, residents of the area thanked Alkhidmat for its initiative and said that the new RO plant would fulfil a vital need of the area which was suffering from shortage of clean water for a long time.
