Alkhidmat’s 2-day volunteer training program concludes; certificates distributed

The two-day pre-monsoon training for volunteers organized by Alkhidmat Karachi concluded recently. Participants were trained by experts for rescue 1122 Lahore on life-saving techniques including CPR, flood management, boat handling, rescue methods, swimming and so on. On conclusion of the training program, a ceremony was held at Alkhidmat’s head office where certificates were distributed to the participants. Addressing the gathering, CEO Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig said that Alkhidmat was working in eight welfare categories of which Disaster Management was one of the most important ones. This department was always alert and ready to serve people in times of natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. The intention behind the training program was to ensure that Alkhidmat’s volunteers were well-trained in disaster management and emergency handling skills.Others who spoke on the occasion were Director General Rescue 1122 Dr. AbidJalaludin Sheikh, Director Disaster Management Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan FazalMehmood and Director Disaster Management Alkhidmat Karachi Qazi Syed Sadruddin. Also present on the occasion were Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureishi, Manager Disaster ManagementSarfaraz Sheikh and other senior officials. Thanking Rescue 1122 for their cooperation during the program, Naveed Ali Baig said that Alkhidmat planned to expand these training activities from central to district levels. Speaking on the occasion, DG Rescue 1122 Dr. Abidacknowledged Alkhidmat’s efforts in providing professional disaster management training to volunteersand reiterated his commitment to continue the collaboration with Alkhidmat to save lives in emergencies.Director Disaster Management Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan FazalMehmooddisclosed thatpresently there were 65 disaster management cells in the country, well-equipped with the latest equipment needed in disasters.He said that he wanted Alkhidmat’s volunteers to be well-trained in the latest disaster management techniques and equipment.Director Disaster Management Alkhidmat Karachi Qazi Syed Sadruddin said that Alkhidmat was serving in the field of disaster management since the earthquake of 2005 and then the floods and heavy rains that struck the country destroying the lives of people. He informed the gathering that Alkhidmat had 13 disaster management cells in all districts of Karachi with equipment and volunteers ready to go into action in case of any emergency. He also reiterated his intention to continue and expand the training program in the future too. At the end of the event, certificates were distributed to the successful participants of the training program.
