Alkhidmat’s 22 Aghosh Homes house scores of orphans: Naveed Ali Baig
Alkhidmat’s Aghosh Homes is a revolutionary concept in the realm of orphan care. CEO Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig says that Aghosh Homes are unlike ordinary orphanages, the very mention of which brings to mind sadness and desolation. For a start, these homes are built at locations that are green, serene and peaceful, and every care is taken to provide a warm, joyful and homely environment, with loving and friendly staff that are trained to bring out the best in the children staying there, while diverting their minds from feelings of despair and deprivation. Indeed, many children are so attached to their surroundings and mentors that they are reluctant to leave when their tenure is over. “Aghosh” literally means a caring embrace in Urdu, and it symbolizes the love of a mother. Alkhidmat is currently operating 22 Aghosh Homes in the country and abroad that are providing top-class residential, educational, health and recreational facilities to orphan children. Resident children will be educated up to their Inter levels (Grade 12). Besides, a number of extra-curricular activities, such as recreational and study trips, are frequently organized to broaden and refresh the children’s minds. In Karachi, the first Aghosh Home was formally opened on August 20, 2021 in Gulshan-e-Maymar. Naveed Ali disclosed that Rs. 20,000 is the budget allocated per month for each child in Aghosh Homes, and Rs. 240,000 for the full year. He termed the care of orphans a noble cause highly recommended in Islam and called for the public to support Alkhidmat Karachi in this activity.
