
Al-Khidmat Awareness Campaign, Seminar, and Walk on World Water Day
Karachi, March 23 (Staff Reporter) – Under Al-Khidmat Karachi’s Wash Program, an awareness campaign, seminar, and walk were organized on World Water Day to raise awareness about the importance of water and the protection of glaciers. A walk was held on Tipu Sultan Road, led by Nazim Jinnah Town Rizwan Abdul Samee and Director of Al-Khidmat’s Wash Program Goharul Islam. Also present were Dr. Nazhat Khan, Founder and CEO of BlueNet, environmental expert Tufail Ali Zubairi, students, and Al-Khidmat volunteers.
During the event, Al-Khidmat launched a new water van service. The walk was attended by the Wash Program Manager Saad Akbar, students, Al-Khidmat volunteers, and officials. Nazim of Jinnah Town, Rizwan Abdul Samee, in his speech, said that water is life and it is one of our most important basic needs. We must prevent its wastage. Whether at home or at work, it is our responsibility to use it carefully.
Goharul Islam stated that Al-Khidmat is not only providing clean water to citizens but also raising awareness about the importance of water. We need to raise more awareness about the importance of clean water and its protection because polluted water is a serious health threat.
Dr. Nazhat Khan mentioned that the neglect of water reserves and the lack of attention to its importance could lead to a global water crisis. Water is essential for human existence. Melting glaciers play a key role in the natural supply of water, and we need to prepare a systematic plan to protect water resources.
Environmental expert Tufail Ali Zubairi said that water plays a vital role in beautifying and protecting the environment. It is necessary to prevent its wastage, protect glaciers, and understand its importance. If we work on this today, it will be a favor to future generations.
Additionally, Al-Khidmat’s Orphan Care Program organized a seminar and awareness walk in Shah Latif, where resilient children participated enthusiastically. The Orphan Care Program Manager Haroon Shahid and other officials were present.
In the seminar, speakers discussed the serious impact of melting glaciers on global water reserves and emphasized the need for national and international efforts to protect glaciers. They also highlighted the importance of collective efforts to protect water reserves. Later, an awareness walk was held where children carried banners and placards with slogans related to glacier protection, the importance of water, and preventing water wastage.
The speakers reiterated that water is essential for human life. They also emphasized that the awareness campaign’s goal is not only to raise a voice for glacier protection but also to highlight the importance of water.TT
