Alkhidmat Inaugurates 71st Water Filtration Plant in Karachi
Alkhidmat Karachi has inaugurated its 71st RO Water Filtration Plant in Karachi under the auspices of its WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) department. The plant has been set up in Block 7 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town with the town’s cooperation. The inauguration was carried out by CEO Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig and Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Dr. Fawad. On the occasion, Alkhidmat WASH Program Director Gohar-ul-Islam, Vice Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town Ibrahim Siddiqui, Jamaat-e-Islami East District Ameer Naeem Akhtar, and WASH Program Manager Saad Akbar were also present, along with a large number of local residents. Addressing the ceremony, Naveed Ali Baig stated that this is Alkhidmat’s 71st plant in Karachi, providing citizens with safe and high-quality drinking water. He noted that water at Alkhidmat plants is supplied at affordable rates and that the organization has a proper testing system in place to regularly check water quality. Currently, citizens lack access to clean drinking water, while contaminated water poses serious health risks. Apart from water filtration plants, Alkhidmat is running hundreds of other water projects, including the installation of submersible and hand pumps, boreholes, and wells in underprivileged and water-scarce areas. He added that Alkhidmat is working across eight sectors, covering almost all aspects of life. “Our aim is to establish water filtration plants across the city so that citizens can have access to safe and clean drinking water,” he said, appealing to philanthropists to support this noble cause. He also thanked Gulshan Town for their cooperation in setting up the plant, adding that this facility will greatly benefit local residents. Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Dr. Fawad, remarked that Alkhidmat serves people without discrimination and enjoys strong public trust. He assured that the town administration would continue collaborating with Alkhidmat on similar projects to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water for citizens.
