Alkhidmat Karachi has inaugurated its 72nd RO Water Filtration Plant at Nazimabad Gol Market in Karachi under the auspices of its WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) department. The inauguration was performed by Alkhidmat Karachi CEO Naveed Ali Baig together with Nazimabad Town Chairman Muzaffar Khan. Also present were Jamaat-e-Islami District Central Ameer Suhail Zaidi, Director WASH Program Syed Gohar-ul-Islam, and UC Chairman Kashif Shamsi. The project was completed with the full cooperation of the Town Municipal Corporation Nazimabad. Manager WASH Program Saad Akbar, local dignitaries, members of the business community, and social personalities were also in attendance. Addressing the ceremony, Alkhidmat Karachi CEO Naveed Ali Baig said that under Alkhidmat’s WASH Program, a wide network of water filtration plants is being established across various areas of the city, ensuring the supply of clean drinking water with uniform standards. In areas facing electricity issues, solar submersible pumps are being installed, while modern and eco-friendly initiatives such as rainwater harvesting have also commenced. He also highlighted the Bano Qabil program, stating that hundreds of thousands of youth across the country have registered, and more than 70,000 young people have already completed IT courses and graduated. Through the Skill Development Program, youth are being equipped with practical skills to open new avenues for their future. Clean drinking water from the filtration plant will be available at an extremely affordable rate of Rs. 2 per liter, covering only administrative costs. In celebration of the inauguration, water will be available for the next three days at just Rs. 1 per liter. He said the purpose of installing the plant is to provide clean, high-quality, and healthy drinking water to the residents of the area. Nazimabad Town Chairman Syed Muzaffar shared that this water filtration plant had been in a state of severe decay and encroachment for several decades. However, the Town Administration entered into an agreement with Alkhidmat, rebuilt the facility, and restored it into a modern filtration plant, which is now formally open to the public. Located at the junction of two major UCs surrounding Gol Market, this densely populated area will directly benefit thousands of residents with access to clean drinking water. Director WASH Program Syed Gohar-ul-Islam said that Alkhidmat is not merely installing plants but also giving top priority to their regular maintenance, monitoring, and quality control.
