Alkhidmat is working for the welfare of prisoners across the country: CEO Naveed Ali Baig

Chief Executive, Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig, stated that Alkhidmat is working for the welfare of prisoners across the country including in Karachi’s prisons. In collaboration with the prison administration, Alkhidmat has established a computer laboratory at Karachi Central Jail, where prisoners are taught computer skills along with Chinese, English, and Arabic language courses. Regular classes concluding with examinations are held for the prisoners. Those who pass the exams receive a reduction in their sentences and are awarded certificates from the Sindh Technical Board. In a statement issued yesterday, he mentioned that Alkhidmat also organizes medical camps to provide healthcare services in prisons. The organization has been engaged in these prison welfare initiatives for several decades. Last year, hundreds of prisoners suffering from skin diseases in Malir and Karachi Central Jail were examined and provided free medicines. Naveed Ali Baig emphasized that by offering computer courses to prisoners during their incarceration, Alkhidmat aims to equip them with valuable skills so that they can lead dignified lives upon release. He further stated that Alkhidmat also facilitates the release of prisoners who are serving sentences due to their inability to pay minor fines, benefiting many inmates. He added that Alkhidmat has installed numerous clean water plants and water chillers in jails and police stations. The organization also provides hygiene kits and supports prisoners’ education. He urged philanthropists to support Alkhidmat’s prison welfare initiatives.
