Alkhidmat launches Plant Distribution drive; saplings planted
Alkhidmat Karachi has launched a “Plant Distribution Campaign” to promote greenery and a healthier environment in the city. The campaign began yesterday in collaboration with Iqra University’s North Campus, where the launch event was attended by Yousuf Mohiuddin, Director, Volunteer Management, Alkhidmat Karachi, Senior Manager Asad Qureshi, faculty members of Iqra University, patron of the Wellbeing Society, Salman Hussain, and others. As part of the campaign, enthusiastic volunteers planted saplings in various areas of the university and played their part in the fight against environmental pollution. Speaking on the occasion, Yousuf Mohiuddin said that “plants not only beautify our surroundings but also play a vital role in oxygen supply, reducing temperatures, and eliminating air pollution.” He emphasized the importance of involving youth in such initiatives so they remain active in protecting the natural environment. Appreciating Iqra University’s collaboration, he expressed hope that the campaign would expand to other institutions in Karachi. “Planting trees is a form of ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) that benefits not only the present but also future generations,” he added. Alkhidmat plans to continue this campaign in collaboration with more educational institutions and communities in the coming days. In his address, Salman Hussain, a faculty member and patron of the Wellbeing Society at Iqra University North Campus, thanked Alkhidmat and said, “We are truly grateful to Alkhidmat for making Iqra University a part of this meaningful campaign. This is not just a tree-planting activity, but a step toward showing love for the environment and building a better future for the coming generations.” He further added, “The enthusiasm with which our students participated is proof that the youth are serious about environmental protection. We hope this initiative by Alkhidmat reaches more institutions, and together, we can play a role in turning Karachi into a greener and healthier city.”
