Alkhidmat’s Aghosh Home celebrates Independence Day; Awards distributed
A dignified ceremony was held at Alkhidmat Karachi’s Aghosh Home at Gulshan-e-Maymar to mark Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day. Resident orphan children dressed in attire suited to the day’s significance expressed their deep love for the country, delivered speeches on the theme “Pakistan’s Struggle for Independence,” and presented tableaus and national songs. The premises were decorated appropriately in national colours for the occasion and flags and badges were distributed among them. There was a karate performance by the children also. The chief guest at the Independence Day ceremony was Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, while other attendees included Aghosh Home Director Abdul Rehman Fida, Chairman Sindh Technical Education Board Musharraf Ahmed, Director Sindh Social Welfare Department Mahmood Ahmed, renowned psychologist Dr. Anita Ayub, social worker Jawad Hassan, and Jamaat-e-Islami Gulshan-e-Maymar leader Abul Khair. Addressing the event, Rashid Qureshi said that this country came into being after great sacrifices. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his companions waged a remarkable struggle, and millions of Muslims of the subcontinent sacrificed their lives for its creation. He said that Independence Day teaches children to value their free homeland and freedom, pursue education, and become the bright future of the country — as they will one day take its reins. Aghosh Home Manager Muhammad Farooq thanked all the guests for attending, noting that Alkhidmat Aghosh Home celebrates Independence Day in a grand manner every year so that these children, too, can share in the joys of the occasion. It also helps instill in them the importance of the homeland and gives them the opportunity to understand the meaning and purpose of independence. At the end of the ceremony, awards were distributed among children who demonstrated outstanding performance throughout the year in academics, sports, and other fields. Afterwards, all guests were given a tour of Aghosh Home and briefed on its purpose and the education and training provided to the children there.
