
Alkhidmat’s Disaster Management Team Conducts Relief Activities in Surjani after torrential rain
Alkhidmat Karachi’s Disaster Management team recently visited Surjani Sector 10 which was severely affected by torrential rains that submerged the entire area and disrupted residents’ daily lives. The team was led by Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi, Rashid Qureshi along with Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District North Tariq Mujtaba, UC Chairman Umeed Ali Qazi, Senior Manager Disaster Management Sarfaraz Sheikh, and a large number of volunteers. Executive Director Rashid Qureshi met with the rain-affected families, inquired about their problems, and distributed cooked food and drinking water. A rescue boat was also provided to evacuate the stranded residents. Drinking water was additionally supplied through Alkhidmat’s water vans. Speaking on the occasion, Rashid Qureshi said: “We learned that this area has been severely affected by the torrential rains, which is why we came here. Cooked meals and clean drinking water have been provided to the affected residents. A bus service has also been arranged to help people leave the area.” He added: “Just as in other cities of the country, Alkhidmat’s volunteers have not left the people of Karachi alone. They rescued elderly passersby, women, and children trapped in the floodwaters, and helped remove cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws stuck in water. According to weather forecasts, rains are expected to continue in Karachi until the end of August. Our Disaster Management Cell and volunteers are fully active across the city and ready to assist the public.” Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District North Tariq Mujtaba said: “After the rains, this area has been submerged and people’s difficulties have increased. Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat have never left the people alone; the victims are our brothers, and we will provide every possible support to them.”
