Alkhidmat’s Islamic Microfinance Program is Transforming Lives: Naveed Ali Baig

CEO Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig, stated that through its Islamic Microfinance program, Alkhidmat is striving to help unemployed individuals stand on their own feet and transform their lives. Hundreds of unemployed individuals have already been provided with interest-free loans under this program. He said that the Islamic Microfinance program is ongoing not only in Karachi but across the country. Alkhidmat provides interest-free loans of up to PKR 75,000 to help unemployed individuals start small businesses. He further stated that four Alkhidmat Skill Development Centers in Karachi are training young people in various vocational fields, including mobile phone repairing, advanced tailoring, electrical work, solar PV technician training, industrial automation, motorcycle mechanics, AC technician courses, and other trades. The aim is to enable youth to earn a dignified livelihood through skills rather than waiting for employment opportunities. Students who complete their courses and wish to start their own businesses are also provided with interest-free loans. Beneficiaries repay these loans in easy installments. Director Islamic Microfinance Program, Yousuf Mohiuddin, stated that more than 60% of graduates from Alkhidmat’s Skill Development Centers are now either employed or running their own businesses. He emphasized that the purpose of providing loans is to empower unemployed individuals to stand on their own feet and bring positive change to their lives. He added that during the current year, with donor support, Alkhidmat has distributed mobile accessories worth millions of rupees to unemployed individuals, enabling them to earn sustainable incomes. When one individual starts a business, the entire family benefits, leading to prosperity at home. Yousuf Mohiuddin concluded by saying that all these initiatives continue throughout the year with the support of philanthropists, and he appealed to well-off individuals to support Alkhidmat’s Islamic Microfinance Program and youth skill development initiatives.
