Clean water is essential; Alkhidmat aims to install water plants across the entire city: Naveed Ali Baig

CEO Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig, said that 75 water filtration plants of Alkhidmat are currently operational across Karachi. He stated that the city is facing a severe water crisis and that contaminated water poses a serious threat to human lives. Alkhidmat has been working on clean water projects for many years. He said that under its WASH Program, Alkhidmat is providing citizens with clean and quality drinking water through its water filtration plants. Alkhidmat aims to install clean water plants throughout the city so that all residents can benefit from this essential facility. He expressed these views in a statement issued yesterday. Naveed Ali Baig said that thousands of people benefit daily from Alkhidmat’s water filtration plants. In addition, Alkhidmat’s water vans are actively serving outside hospitals, at dastarkhwans, and at public places, providing cold drinking water to fasting individuals, patients, and their attendants. These water vans remain operational throughout the year. He added that Alkhidmat has also installed water filtration plants free of cost at six educational institutions and hospitals, benefiting students and the general public. In Karachi, three water dispensing machines are providing 24-hour service, allowing citizens to obtain water at any time through card-based access. Naveed Ali Baig further stated that Alkhidmat has its own water testing laboratory where water is regularly tested, while external testing services are also offered at affordable rates. For community needs, Alkhidmat installs simple hand pumps, solar-powered simple pumps, and hand pumps in areas such as Korangi and other narrow streets where water tankers cannot enter and electricity issues persist. He said that Karachi has always faced a water shortage, and keeping in view the needs of affected communities, Alkhidmat arranges water supply through bore wells. Emphasizing the importance of water charity, he said that providing water is one of the best forms of charity, and ensuring its continuous availability for Allah’s creation is a form of sadaqah jariyah. Concluding his statement, Naveed Ali Baig appealed to philanthropists to support Alkhidmat during the holy month in order to further expand these water initiatives.
