Workshops, Awards, and Certificates for Water Filtration Plant Operators under Alkhidmat’s WASH Program
Alkhidmat Karachi’s WASH Program recently organised workshops titled “Professional Code of Conduct” to provide technical training and enhance the skills of Water Filtration Plant operators. These workshops, featuring lectures by Director Human Resources Muneer Yaqoob and Manager Learning & Development Umair Yaqoob, were conducted in Korangi, Lyari and Dastagir. The sessions focused on expanding plant operations, increasing their reach, addressing the challenges faced by operators and providing viable solutions. A special ceremony was held at Alkhidmat’s head office, where awards and certificates were distributed to plant operators. During the event, a manual addressing operators’ technical challenges and enhancing their knowledge was also launched. Additionally, a test was conducted to evaluate the technical expertise of Water Filtration Plant operators. The event was chaired by Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureshi, in the presence of key figures such as Director WASH Program Gohar-ul-Islam, Director Learning & Development Yousuf Mohiuddin, General Manager HR Habib-ur-Rehman, Manager WASH Program Saad Akbar, and other officials. Awards and certificates were presented to the best-performing operators during the ceremony. In his address, Executive Director Rashid Qureshi congratulated the operators who successfully completed the training and emphasized their critical role in ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water. He highlighted that Alkhidmat Karachi currently operates 66 water filtration plants across Karachi and aims to expand further. He acknowledged the foundational work initiated by former Mayor Karachi Niamatullah Khan in this sector. While much of the city faces water shortages, Alkhidmat continues to provide clean, affordable drinking water to the community. He expressed hope that the trained operators would utilize their technical skills to manage operations more systematically. Director WASH Program Gohar-ul-Islam stated that the primary objective of the workshops was to equip plant operators with advanced technical skills, enabling them to deliver better services efficiently.
