World Orphans Day: Iftar Arranged for Children Residing at Alkhidmat Aghosh

Alkhidmat Karachi recently observed World Orphans Day. On this occasion, a signature board was displayed at Alkhidmat’s head office where various personalities and visitors to the office wrote their thoughts and signed the board, expressing love and compassion for orphaned children. On the same occasion, an iftar gathering was arranged at Alkhidmat Aghosh Home in collaboration with Innovative Private Limited. The chief guest of the event was the Chief Executive of Alkhidmat Karachi, Naveed Ali Baig. The event was also attended by Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Najeeb Ayubi, Manager Aghosh Home Muhammad Farooq, and representatives of Innovative Private Limited. While addressing the gathering, Naveed Ali Baig said that World Orphans Day is observed in the Islamic world on the 15th of Ramadan. The purpose of observing this day is to highlight globally the importance and need for supporting and sponsoring orphaned children. He said that orphaned children who deserve our attention should be given proper care and support. He further stated that although many unnecessary days are observed, attention is rarely given to this cause. Paying attention to orphans and stepping forward to support them is the need of the hour. Naveed Ali Baig added that Alkhidmat in Karachi is supporting 250 determined children, while more than 34,000 children are being supported across the country. He said that Alkhidmat operates 24 Aghosh Homes nationwide, where orphaned children are provided with quality education, accommodation, food, and other facilities. He further stated that there are about 4.5 million orphaned children in the country, and these children require care and guardianship. The entire society should come forward to support and sponsor them and play its role. He also congratulated all the children who were observing the fast. Executive Director Rashid Qureshi said that caring for orphans is the responsibility of individuals, society, and the state. Children who have been deprived of the blessing of a father must be supported and cared for. He said that supporting orphans is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and Alkhidmat is acting upon the commands of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him). He appealed to affluent individuals to become part of the orphan sponsorship program by contributing Rs. 5,500 per child.
